Corinne Smith
Hi, my name is Corinne, I was born in Brisbane and have lived a large part of my life here. I have also travelled extensively throughout our wonderful country from the outback to the coast and more recently I have discovered some amazing places overseas.
I have been drawing and painting since primary school. In Grade 7 I discovered Calligraphy which has been an ongoing interest. Calligraphy introduced me to the use of watercolors and gouache. A great deal of my learning since has come, not only from experimentation and workshops, but also through colleges, TAFE’s and community groups all over Australia. In the last 5 years I have discovered pastels, which I find brings out the child in me with lots of hand and finger blending. Most recently I have been experimenting with acrylics and attending life drawing classes with BRIZART at Brookfield.
A few commissions have come my way, and sales at the "International Nature in Art 2007 Exhibition" held at the Logan Art Gallery and the Brookfield Art Show Competition. I continue to exhibit with the Queensland Wildlife Artists Society and many local galleries and community organisations. (Logan Art Gallery, the Old Schoolhouse Gallery at Cleveland, the Richard Randall Studio Gallery at Mt Cootha, Australia Zoo, Royal Queensland Art Society, Pastel Society, Art In The Park at Anstead, the Brookfield Art Show, the Kenilworth Art Competition, Police Citizen Youth Club at Lota, the Brisbane Montessori School in Fig Tree Pocket) and many more lovely venues..
I paint many different subjects. Australian Fauna and Flora are my passion. I am currently a member of the Queensland Wildlife Artists Society and the Pastel Society of Australia."
I hope to be learning and putting many more miles on my pencils and brushes for the rest of my life and leave this world with a brush or a pastel stick in my hand.
